RESEARCH INTEREST

A high energy density, high power density, environmentally benign and cost effective cathode is integral to the development of next-generation of Li-ion batteries.  In recent years Olivine structured lithium transition phosphates LiMPO4 (M = transition metals, such as Fe,Mn)  have surfaced as promising candidates.  However, Olivine structured LiMPO4 are undermined by its low electronic conductivity and ion conductivity. We emphasized on promoting their electrochemical performance by both surface and bulk engineering of Lithium transition phosphates. By both doping with alien ions and surface coating with conductive materials, we expect a large enhancement on its electrochemical performance.
