RESEARCH INTEREST

Since no external pressure is applied in this case, forward osmosis (FO) has the potential to lower the energy input in water treatment processes. However, the fouling, especially biofouling still remains one of the severest problems in FO applications and needs to be further addressed.

In my research, different strategies have been used to develop a built-in anti-fouling mechanism in FO membranes. FO membranes with anti-biofouling property were prepared by incorporating with silver nanoparticles due to their broad-spectrum antibacterial properties. Meanwhile, by introducing the electrochemical property, membranes are expected to be with anti-fouling property.
