Electrochromism is a promising energy saving technology when used to make smart windows that can dynamically control the amount of solar heat and lighting input of the building as an active response to the changes of interior temperature and light conditions. An ideal smart window would independently control the transmittance of visible sunlight and solar heat into a building. For this purpose, we are focused on the development of novel and facile synthetic approaches to prepare monodisperse colloidal mental oxide nanoparticles with LSPR absorption in the NIR region, and employing them to fabrication smart window. The goal is to selectively regulate the optical transmittance in the regions of NIR and visible transparency via modulation of LSPR scattering and material structure, respectively.
