RESEARCH INTEREST

Conversion reactions of interstitial-free 3d metal oxides are candidate anodes for lithium ion batteries aimed at achieving higher specific capacities than graphite. This project targets on the synthesis of nanoscale metal oxide particles and the investigations of their electrochemical performance as a reversible lithium storage compound. The following chart showed the formation mechanism of disk-like iron oxide microparticles and its CVD post-treatment products. Results showed that the C/ γ-Fe2O3 nanostructures with large surface area and nanoscale carbon coating layer exhibit a mixed-conducting property, and thus deliver an improved cycling performance.
